Ryan Powell is a folk musician and singer songwriter located in Portland , Oregon. He is available to bring his unique take on Celtic folk music to your event, party, wedding, Pub or porch and travels with a Bose sound system. He plays guitar, bodhran, low whistles, bouzouki and more to create a rich experience of sound and song.
Born in Denver, Colorado, Ryan made his way out to Portland to attend Lewis & Clark College in 1990. He lived in Ireland for 6 months as part of an overseas study program and began to play music on the streets of Dublin and Galway with his friend Matt Hall. Ryan and Matt, upon returning to Oregon, founded the Celtic rock/jam band Blind Rafferty in the mid 1990’s and played all around Portland and the Pacific Northwest.
Ryan now plays primarily as a solo act, bringing his songs to such wonderful establishments as T.C. O’Leary’s Pub, McMenamins Edgefield, Rock Creek Tavern, various weddings and private parties, and he has a deep love of playing and singing for the senior community.
